Jaime de Melo
Dr. Jaime de Melo is scientific advisor at International Economics and provides oversight of quantitative evaluation studies in the company. He is Emeritus Professor at the University of Geneva, and scientific director at Fondation pour les études et recherches sur le développement international (FERDI), academic advisor at the Geneva Business School and a non-resident scholar at Brookings Institute. From 1980 to 1993, he held various positions in the research Department, including as Chief of Division of Trade Policy Division at the World Bank. He taught at Georgetown University from 1976-80 and at the University of Geneva from 1993-2012.
Jaime obtained an MA in International Relations (SAIS) and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Johns Hopkins University. He has served on editorial boards including the European Economic Review, 1999-02, and was editor-in-chief of the World Bank Economic Review, 2005-2010.
Paul is the founder and CEO of International Economics, and currently manages the company's research activities and heads its consultancy arm. He has held leading roles as an economic adviser in over 70 countries worldwide for international organisations – World Bank, European Commission, International Trade Centre UNCTAD/WTO, as well as Ministries from G20 and emerging market governments. Paul has been named Global Leader in Trade & Customs – Economists & Anti-Dumping Consultants by Who's Who Legal for 5 consecutive years. He currently serves as a Board Member of UNESCAP's Trade Intelligence Negotiation Advisor and Research Advisor at ARTNeT.
He holds an MSc (Econ) in Economics of the Asia Pacific Region from the University of London SOAS and a Master's degree in Financial Engineering from the University of Nantes, and has completed executive programmes at Harvard University, Harvard Business School and MIT in Strategy and Systems Dynamics. He has been a visiting professor and faculty member at international universities in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, including College of Europe and the University of Barcelona.
Neetish is Director of Cognitive Computing and Analytics at International Economics. He undertakes data analysis, research and consultancy services in the area of big data analytics in relation to trade and economics for clients in Mauritius and abroad. In addition to having very strong modeling, analytical, programming skills and experience in data science, Neetish also has expertise in project planning, management and implementation. Prior to joining International Economics, Neetish worked in the ICT industry for 18 years. He started his career with Birger Ltd and continued to gain great knowledge and experience working for large consultancies in IT, such as Accenture and IBM, developing data systems, analytics and cognitive platforms for clients around the world.
Neetish holds an MSc in Information and Communication Technologies, a B. Eng in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Mauritius and a data scientist certificate from Harvard University.
Andras is an experienced Trade Negotiator, Researcher and Consultant providing TRTA (Trade Related Technical Assistance) to developing and transitional economy countries. Andras has held leading roles as Senior Adviser on trade policy, trade negotiations and international trade and investment law for Governments, businesses and Multilateral Donor funded projects in more than 20 countries, including as Head of Hungary’s Permanent Mission to the WTO; Senior Expert on services, trade and competition at the OECD, Senior Expert for the Vietnamese Government in the implementation of the ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement (ACIA) and Vietnam’s participation to ASEAN Economic Community; advisor to the Government of Vanuatu to prepare WTO membership and design post-WTO accession; and senior expert for the International Trade Centre and within the framework of technical assistance projects in Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Mauritius, Malawi, and Papua New Guinea.
He is on the WTO Indicative List of Governmental and Non-Governmental dispute settlement Panelists as an expert on trade in goods and trade in services.
Andras graduated with a M.Sc in Economics with specialisation in International Trade from Corvinus University, Budapest, Hungary.
